My friends laugh and joke about my “4 hour” time frame in which I need to get everything done before bedtime. But I must admit, it is a painful process every night. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids. But they know how to push my buttons and they don’t let up! It’s snacks, drinks, iPad, DS, T.V., bathroom trips, etc. This is just to name a few of the roadblocks they meet on their way to their bedrooms. But there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Sure you’re saying when they are fast asleep and yes, you are right but it’s the journey to the light at the end of this tunnel that makes it all worthwhile. Tonight’s conversations went like this:
Maeve “Go to sleep Madilyn”
Madilyn “You’re not the boss of me!
Maeve “No! Mommy is the boss. Mommy, tell Madilyn to go to sleep because you are the boss.”
Madilyn “No, daddy is the boss!”
Maeve “Daddy is the boss because he works”
Madilyn “A boss is someone who is older. I am your big sister, you are my little sister so I am the boss of you.”
Maeve “Ok. Go to sleep. I am the boss.”
Madilyn “She just doesn’t get it, does she mommy?”
Maeve (throwing her hands up) “I’m tired. Just close your eyes Madilyn!”
Madilyn “This conversation is exhausting. I’m going to sleep.”
And Madilyn had the last words, Maeve closed her eyes, and Me… well I was glad this ended.
